baby-reflexBaby reflex symptoms can be severe. After indigestion when food is regurgitated through the esophagus, it is called Acid Reflex. It appears in almost 20 percent of babies in the first nine months. It is because of an underdeveloped digestive tract in them. When babies digestive system is still not developed fully it is hard for them to take the milk entirely into the digestive system. Due to this it’s hard to close the sphincter at the top and hence the contents of stomach re-enters the mouth which leads to very serious problems. It will effect also on newborns gas problem.

The common baby reflex symptoms are that the baby feels a burning sensation across the chest. It is very painful for the babies to bare it. They feel a burning sensation when the acidic contents come back up. When these symptoms begin they often spit out the milk they drink. It also causes to weight loss.

It is not for sure that the same symptoms would appear to all babies who are suffering from this. Some will have heart burning sensation and some might have weight loss and more. Other symptoms are constant crying, coughing and refusing eating etc.

In silent reflex symptoms, infants will swallow the liquid instead of vomiting it out and also there would be no weight loss. It’s difficult for the doctors to diagnose. In this problem the babies will have bad breath. In this case, take them to doctors immediately.

This should be diagnosed by the doctors and given proper treatment. Acid suppressors and Acid blockers suppress the production of acid in the stomach. To neutralize any acids in the stomach, antacids can be used. Some major treatments for these problems are Prilosec and Tagament. To reduce regurgitation you can add cereals in your baby’s diet. Another good idea is keep the baby comfortable. It is good to understand the problems and then give proper treatment. Lack of coordination of gastrointestinal tract also causes this reflex.

Throughout the day feed the baby more frequently but with smaller doses. After feeding keep the baby upright for some time.
